KriGen Pharmaceuticals, an India-based injectables maker, unveiled plans to build a $7 million facility in Lillington, North Carolina. The 55,000-square-foot facility will produce medical IV bags and injectables and create about 100 jobs. According to the company’s website, KriGen products currently include dextrose and sodium chloride IV bags. “The vision of KriGen Pharmaceuticals is to improve the quality of human lives by providing affordable pharmaceutical formulations based on innovation and technology,” Dhruvkumar Patel, the company’s chief financial officer, said in a statement reported by WRAL TechWire. The company is expected to receive a $200,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund as part of an effort to attract KriGen to the state. The company did not say when the project is expected to be completed. A saline shortage due to production issues with a number of manufacturers since 2014 was exacerbated when hurricanes Irma and Maria wreaked havoc on pharma plants in Puerto Rico.
